Contract Mobilisation Finance

Contract mobilisation finance helps a business meet upfront costs required to begin delivering a signed commercial contract before the first customer receipts arrive.

NBS Finance is a broker and introducer, not a lender. An enquiry does not guarantee an offer.

Build a dated mobilisation budget

Begin with a signed contract, delivery programme, margin and a weekly cash forecast. Separate asset purchases, labour/materials before billing and completed invoices after billing; one product need not cover every stage.

Hypothetical contract budget; not a quote or approval
Timing Cash need or receipt
Before start £10,000 equipment contribution or purchase and £15,000 initial materials. An asset route may suit identifiable equipment; check deposits and draw conditions.
Weeks 1–4 £20,000 labour and operating costs before an assumed first receipt. Include employer costs, insurance and overheads.
After completed work Invoice or application is raised under the contract. Eligibility and verification are separate from raising it.
Expected receipt £60,000 on the assumed due date. Against the £45,000 listed costs, the £15,000 difference is before finance charges, omitted overheads and tax; it is not a confirmed profit.

If receipt slips four weeks, identify the additional wages and costs plus any first finance repayment falling due meanwhile. Check cancellation, termination, delay damages, variation approval, supplier commitments and who bears each risk. Finance does not cure a contract whose margin disappears under realistic delays.

Compare equipment funding, working capital and, once eligible debt exists, construction invoice finance or contractual debt finance.

NBS Finance is a broker and introducer, not a lender. NBS does not charge the client a separate broker fee. Providers set costs and terms and may carry out business or director credit checks; ask which searches will be made before a full application. An enquiry does not guarantee an offer.

Information that helps produce a useful answer

Providers set their own rates, charges, fees, security and terms. Clear evidence helps distinguish a viable route from an unsuitable application.

  • The signed contract and scope
  • Mobilisation budget and payment schedule
  • Evidence of capacity to deliver and repay
Important: A signed contract supports the case but does not guarantee future income or finance approval.

Mobilisation questions

Can a new company apply with a signed contract?

Founder experience, delivery capacity, contribution, credit and affordability still need review. A contract alone does not guarantee finance.

What if the contract is cancelled?

Repayments and committed supplier costs may remain. Review cancellation, delay and variation clauses and a fallback repayment plan.

Can repayments precede customer receipts?

Yes, depending on the agreement. Compare actual repayment dates with the weekly cash forecast and allow for delayed receipts.

NBS Finance primarily supports UK limited companies. NBS Finance is not incorporated as a limited company and is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Where applicable, NBS works with lenders and intermediaries that are FCA-authorised for their own regulated activities; their status does not make NBS Finance FCA-authorised.

Delivery costs or amounts already owed?

Mobilisation concerns the cost of starting or delivering work. Applications and staged debts require a review of payment status and contract terms.

Contractual debt finance

Separate applications, approved amounts and retentions before reviewing a contract-led requirement.
