Plumbing and HVAC Business Finance

Commercial maintenance receipts, domestic jobs and HVAC installation packages have different cash cycles. NBS reviews your work mix, supplier commitments and payment evidence to distinguish equipment investment from the operating gap.

Tell us the amount, purpose and timing. NBS reviews a suitable starting route and clarifies what information is needed next. Best estimates are fine.

NBS Finance is a commercial finance broker and introducer, not a lender, and primarily supports UK limited companies. Funding is subject to provider assessment and terms. An enquiry does not guarantee an offer.

Start with who pays and what must be completed

Plumbing and HVAC work types
Activity Cash-flow evidence Starting assessment
Commercial service and maintenance Completed job records, service agreements and accepted invoices Eligible B2B invoice finance may be relevant.
Mechanical/HVAC installation subcontract Applications, valuations, commissioning and handover conditions Specialist construction receivables and pre-billing needs.
Domestic customer work Deposits, stage receipts and completion payments Do not assume household debts fit ordinary B2B invoice finance.
A business van or owned equipment Quotation, use, condition and useful life Asset finance where the equipment and affordability meet provider criteria.

Identify whether your direct debtor is a landlord, facilities manager, main contractor or householder. The building owner is not necessarily the party that owes your invoice.

Supplier deposits can precede any fundable invoice

A heat pump, air-handling unit, boiler or other project equipment can require payment before delivery and installation. Map supplier deposits and balances, labour, commissioning, customer acceptance and collection dates. Bespoke or long-lead equipment may have cancellation risk; show the actual order terms.

Materials and equipment installed in the customer’s premises are not automatically business assets you retain for refinance. Future installation work is not an eligible completed invoice just because you have placed the supplier order.

Where the contract uses applications or completion conditions, read M&E subcontract guidance and request a specialist construction review. Some specialists consider applications before certification, but not every contract, retention or variation is acceptable.

Illustration: distinguish committed costs from customer cash

Hypothetical installation: £12,000 equipment deposit, £8,000 supplier balance and £6,000 labour are due before an expected £35,000 customer receipt. The £26,000 outlay leaves a £9,000 difference before overheads, finance costs, remedial work and tax. These are invented amounts, not a typical HVAC margin or offer.

A commissioning delay can move the receipt without moving the supplier bills. Forecast that delay, identify contribution and show how any loan is repaid. If an existing commercial maintenance ledger is available, it can be assessed separately; it does not guarantee funding for the new installation.

Vans, tools and service equipment

Provide the van or equipment quotation, useful life, expected use and current commitments. Asset finance may suit acceptable identifiable assets; provider criteria determine whether small tools, software or ancillary costs are included. Compare total payments, contribution, final obligations and the effect of downtime.

A defined working-capital loan requires sustainable repayment capacity, not only a promising pipeline. For invoice funding, check approval evidence, customer concentration, disputes, reserves, drawings and fees. Warranty callbacks and service credits can affect both margin and invoice collectability.

Compare all service/funding charges, minimum fees, security, guarantees and exit costs. Keep a reserve for remedial work and quieter trading. Van sourcing remains available independently of a funding request.

Prepare a useful funding review

  • Commercial maintenance, project and domestic income split
  • Supplier quotes/deposits, installation budget and commissioning/payment triggers
  • Accepted debtor ledger, applications, retentions, disputes and largest customers
  • Accounts, delayed-completion forecast, existing facilities and van/equipment quotes

For the first enquiry, give your company, trading history, approximate turnover, amount, purpose, timing and current facilities. Best estimates are fine; say “Not sure” where needed. You do not need every document to begin. Use business-level totals and agree a secure process before sending detailed confidential records.

NBS reviews the requirement and clarifies gaps before assessing possible routes through lenders and specialist partners. The provider decides eligibility and any offer. Read the existing enquiry’s privacy notice and sharing authorisation before submission.

Plumbing and HVAC Business Finance: practical questions

Can household invoices be included in ordinary invoice finance?

Do not assume so. The debtor and contract must fit the provider’s criteria; a mainly domestic business may need an equipment or general cash-flow review instead.

Can a supplier deposit be funded before installation?

Describe the commitment, contract, contribution and repayment source. It is a pre-invoice requirement, not automatically a fundable receivable.

Can an existing van release cash?

Potentially, if owned or with acceptable equity and settlement arrangements. Valuation, age, condition, existing security and affordability determine suitability.

Review My Plumbing or HVAC Funding

Explain the business requirement, approximate amount and when the cash or asset is needed. An enquiry does not commit you to accepting finance. Ask for the complete costs, terms and responsibilities before deciding to proceed.
